How it works

  1. 1.Paste the fixed-width text, or open a .txt / .dat file.
  2. 2.Enter the column widths separated by commas, spaces or a pipe character — for example 11,11,10,10 — or press Detect the widths to guess them.
  3. 3.Say whether the first line is a header, optionally name the columns, then press Convert to a table.
  4. 4.Check the preview and export as CSV or Excel. Lines that were shorter or longer than the widths are reported.
