Classify SKUs into A, B and C by revenue, spot slow-moving and dead stock, and see how much money is stuck in the tail.
How the classes work
SKUs are sorted by revenue and split by cumulative share: A is the group that together makes up the first 80%, B carries it to 95%, and C is the tail, including anything with no sales in the period. 90 days without a sale counts as slow moving and 180 as dead stock, whatever the class. Stock value uses the unit price you paste, so use your cost price if you want the cash figure to reflect your money.
A view of one period, not a forecast: seasonality and one-off promotions can move a SKU between classes. Re-run it every month.
