How the audit works
A keyword counts as covered when it appears in the title, the bullets or the description — the fields shoppers and the search engine actually read. Backend search terms do not create visibility, so a keyword that only lives there is flagged separately; a keyword that is in the copy and in the backend is wasted characters, because the visible text is already indexed. Field budgets come from the same rule table the listing writer uses.
Text matching, not ranking: coverage tells you the keyword exists in the copy, not where the listing ranks for it.
