Employee Engagement Survey Questions

An engagement survey is only as good as its questions. This builder groups them by the drivers that actually move engagement — growth, recognition, the direct manager, team, workload, autonomy, purpose, communication and pay.

Pick the drivers you want to act on, add two open questions, and export the survey as Markdown or CSV. Paste the answers back to get the mean score, the share answering favourably and an eNPS.

Employee Engagement Survey Builder

Build an engagement, eNPS or satisfaction survey from a driver-based question bank, then score the responses in your browser.

Driver-based questions plus one recommendation question — the standard engagement format.

Drivers to include

Questions and scores are built in your browser. If you paste real responses, they never leave your device.

Pick the drivers on the left, then build the survey.

These are standard survey questions, not a validated psychometric instrument. Keep responses anonymous, act on what you hear, and say what you will do next — otherwise response rates fall away after the first round.

Frequently asked questions

How many questions should an engagement survey have?
Short enough that people finish it: 10–20 rated questions plus one or two open ones. Every extra question costs you response rate, and response rate is what makes the numbers worth anything.
Who can see the responses?
Nobody but you: the questions and the scoring both run in your browser, and nothing is uploaded. If you do collect responses elsewhere, keep the group you report on at five people or more so nobody is identifiable.
