CSV to Jira Table Converter

Paste rows or drop a CSV or Excel file, pick Jira as the output format, and paste the table into a Jira issue description or a comment. The first row becomes the header row and every other row a normal row.

Jira wiki tables use double pipes for the header and single pipes between cells, so a pipe inside a value would split the row — the tool escapes those values as HTML entities instead. Line breaks inside a cell are flattened to spaces.

How it works

  1. 1.Import the table (Excel, CSV, TSV or JSON, or paste), then pick the output format: Markdown, HTML, SQL INSERT, JSON, XML, YAML, LaTeX, vCard, iCal, pandas and more.
  2. 2.For SQL, set the table name; for vCard and iCal, map which column holds which field — a field you leave empty is simply not written out.
  3. 3.Press Generate and check the result on the right.
  4. 4.Copy it or download it. Rows that cannot become a usable contact or event are skipped rather than written out half-empty.

Frequently asked questions

Does this work in Jira Cloud as well as Server?
The output is the classic wiki markup, which Jira Server renders directly. On Cloud, use the markdown format of this tool instead and paste the equivalent table into the markdown editor.
What if my values contain special characters?
Pipes are written as entities so the row cannot split, and line breaks become spaces. Other punctuation stays as-is, which is what you want for issue keys, dates and numbers.
