Compare Two Excel Files

Load an earlier export and a newer one, pick the columns that identify a row, and let the tool match them. You get the rows that exist in only one file and the cells whose values changed, instead of scrolling through two spreadsheets side by side.

Columns are matched by their header names, values in numeric columns are compared as numbers (1,200 equals 1200), and keys that appear more than once are marked as ambiguous rather than paired up at random. The result exports as CSV or Excel with a status column.

How it works

  2. 2.Tick the columns that identify a row — they must exist in both tables — then the columns you want compared.
  3. 3.Leave the compare columns unticked to only look for missing rows; ignore spaces, letter case and small numeric differences if you need to.
  4. 4.Press Compare the two tables, filter by Changed, Only in A, Only in B or Identical, then export as CSV or Excel.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose the columns that identify a row?
Select one or more key columns such as an order id or an email address. Rows are then matched by those values, so rows that moved inside the file are not reported as changes.
Does the comparison treat 1,200 and 1200 as equal?
Yes. When both columns are numeric, thousands separators are ignored, so the same amount written two ways is not reported as a difference.
